‘Mechanisms Not Meaning’ (2023) is built around the familiarity that is intrinsic to home  and how this can be affected by the interventions and traces left by others. Greene views home as a shell. The  images play with the identification of what can be seen and separations between what is distinguished. These structures lack value before their link to one’s own environment. Experiences of safety intrinsic to the concept of home can come at any time, and Greene aims to find these occurrences of peace in unexpected circumstances. The project is centred around evidence of your root, the value of your shell. Produced as a part of Peter’s graduate exhibition, the images are shown in an approximate scale and layout to the original installation.
